Nivesh Sahayak HSNFree HSN and SAC code finder and checker

HSN code finder and checker with GST rates

Search all official HSN and SAC codes by code or words, see the GST rate of a goods or service code exactly as the CBIC notifications state it, check if a code has enough digits for your turnover, and clean up the HSN and GST % of the items you bill. Free, no login.

How to use the HSN code finder

  1. Check a code. Type an HSN or SAC code. You see its official description, chapter or SAC heading, and whether it has enough digits for your turnover.
  2. Set your turnover. Choose "Up to ₹5 crore" or "Above ₹5 crore" (last financial year). Tick "Bill to an unregistered buyer" for B2C bills.
  3. Find a code. Not sure of the code? Type words like "biscuit", "cotton" or "repair". The search looks through all official HSN and SAC codes and the rate entries; tap the code that fits.
  4. See the GST rate. Under the code you see every rate entry of the notifications for it: the rate, the description word for word, and the notification and S. No. When the entries give different rates, pick the one whose description fits your goods.
  5. Fix your items. The list at the bottom checks every item and service you saved. Type the right code or GST % and press Save.

What it does for you

Your data stays with you

Codes are checked inside your browser and nothing is sent to us. Your items are kept in this browser and shared with the other Nivesh Sahayak tools through my.niveshsahayak.in, so a code you fix here is right on your next bill.

Keep a backup. If the browser's data is cleared, saved work in it is gone. Open My data (top of the page) and press Save a backup file now and then.

Questions people ask

Is this HSN code finder free?

Yes. There is no login and no limit. It works in your browser.

Does it show the GST rate for my code?

Yes, for goods and services: every entry of the CBIC rate notifications that names the code (goods) or its SAC heading (services), word for word, with the notification and S. No. One code can have more than one rate (for example clothing up to or above ₹2,500 a piece, or a service at 5% without input tax credit or 18% with it), so pick the entry that fits. For a service you also see the exemptions of Notification 12/2017 that can make it nil, with their conditions and the meaning of the words they use.

How many HSN digits do I need on my invoice?

At least 4 digits if your turnover last year was up to ₹5 crore (they may be left out on bills to unregistered buyers), and at least 6 digits on every invoice above ₹5 crore, under Notification 78/2020-Central Tax.

What is the difference between HSN and SAC?

HSN codes classify goods; SAC codes classify services and always start with 99.

Can I fix the HSN of my saved items here?

Yes. The list at the bottom shows every saved item with its code and GST %. Type the right values and press Save; the next bill uses them.
